About Recycled Steel
Every minute, approximately 20,000 steel cans are recycled in the United States. Steel cans, including those used for food, paint and aerosol cans, were recycled at a rate of 58 percent in 2000. It takes old steel to make new steel. That means each new steel product is made in part from recycled steel that's been used previously.
